That’s a wrap!! WordCamp Nepal 2013

About 125 people with 12 speakers attended the 2nd edition of WordCamp Nepal 2013 held at Yalamaya Kendra, Patan Dhoka on 26th October. It was a confluence of sponsors, brilliant developers and keen WordPressers. The enthusiasm and the energy was contagious.

The segments of the program were diverse and well balanced. The venue was an important landmark in Nepal’s history and easy to access. Catch Themes was one of the silver sponsors of that event and I was one of the speakers. All of the speakers had a lot to share about the topics they chose to talk on. As a speaker, I felt supported. Plus, the intent crowd motivated me to deliver with more energy. In addition to great talks there was a real social environment at WordCamp, with lots of opportunities to meet people with all kinds of WordPress backgrounds. So many people genuinely wanted to share what they were working on, or were keen to engage in discussion or even ask for advice on a future project. I really hope that events like this will keep pushing everyone further to deliver their best. After all, development of each one of us will lead to a development of our overall community, recognized by the world and at one point, we are the ones to define and shape the whole IT Industry.

I recommend you to check out WordPress.tv for a recap on the amazing talks we had.

I’d like to extend my congratulations and thanks to everyone who was involved in organizing this WordCamp and making it a success. Without you, there is no community!

Next year, we will have more stories to tell!

Can’t wait till next year and want to get involved now? Check out WordCamp Nepal 2014.

Hello. My name is Sakin Shrestha, and I am a technology entrepreneur from Nepal. I am passionate about helping this sector grow, for many reasons. The technology sector creates jobs for many young Nepalis who would otherwise migrate to foreign countries. It lets Nepali professionals develop skills for a fast-changing global workplace, and compete at a high level with anyone, anywhere in the world. If it grows, it will provide a viable career option for many young Nepalis, and help us reap the benefits of a global economy.
